James W. Malanowski LUTCF
Founder and owner (Call me Jim)
A native Oregonian, Jim graduated from Tigard High School and went on to earn a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Oregon. After graduation, he moved back to Portland to take employment with a nationally recognized bank, overseeing areas of both branch and credit card administration statewide.
In 1982, Jim left the bank to pursue a career in insurance and financial planning. Since his founding of Green Line NW, LLC, he has helped hundreds of clients and operates three offices in the greater Portland Metro Area – Milwaukie, Gresham, and Beaverton. We attribute our growth to two factors: our personal approach to each client and client satisfaction. The belief of the Green Line NW, LLC team is to provide a sound, holistic financial plan for retirement, which should include well-defined strategies to address such risks as longevity, market volatility, and unexpected illness.

Event Coordinator/ Administrative Assistant
As the Event Coordinator and Administrative Assistant for Green Line NW LLC, Katie is responsible for scheduling educational seminar events, both online and in-person. She handles the logistics of our event calendar and client events. In addition, Katie manages the back office support, including ordering supplies, filing, and following up with clients on any policy changes. With her caring nature, Katie helps our clients feel valued and heard.
She began working with Green Line NW, LLC in 2019 as a scheduling coordinator, before transitioning into her current role. She loves getting to know our clients and enjoys providing top-notch service. In addition, Katie regularly attends industry events and training sessions.
Katie grew up in both the Portland and Silverton areas. She has experience volunteering as a Peer Mentor for children in special education. Katie is close with her siblings and enjoys taking day trips to the coast whenever she has the opportunity.

Appointment Setter / Administrative Assistant
Julia is the Scheduling Coordinator and Administrative Assistant for Green Line NW, LLC. Her responsibilities include answering the phone, responding to emails and online inquiries, and assisting in appointment scheduling. In addition, she handles organizational duties for events and prepares files for client appointments. Julia’s professional demeanor as well as “fun quirks” allow her to easily connect with our clients.
Prior to working with Green Line NW, LLC, Julia was a professional ballet dancer and also worked in the hospitality industry. She earned two Bachelor’s Degrees from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2018, with majors in English and Dance. She also has experience in social media and website management.
Julia grew up in Minnesota and moved to Portland after college to perform with a ballet company. When she’s not interacting with clients on our trivia nights, she enjoys being outdoors, kayaking, and working on art projects.
